Preventive Dentistry

Preventing serious dental issues and diseases is one of our top goals at New Roc Dental. We want to help you avoid unnecessary pain and discomfort. That is why we are proud to offer a wide range of preventative services. With these treatments, we can strengthen your teeth, protect your gums, and keep dangerous dental issues from developing.

What Services Do You Offer?

Most of our preventative services are quick and inexpensive. By investing in your teeth now, you can avoid having to undergo painful, expensive treatments in the future.

Our preventative services include:

  •   Dental hygiene and exams
  •   Fillings
  •   Extractions
  •   Sealants and Fluoride
  •   Nightguards (bruxism treatment)
What Is Included in the Routine Exam?

During your visit, we will clean and examine your teeth, gums, and other parts of your mouth. To begin, one of our friendly hygienists will clean your teeth and gums while checking for signs of any potential problems.

After your cleaning, Dr. Wynter will examine every part of your mouth, including your jaw, facial muscles, and oral tissues. She will look for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, oral cancer, bruxism, and TMJ disorder, among other things. At the end of your visit, Dr. Wynter will discuss her findings with you and will recommend any next steps, if necessary.

What Are Dental Fillings?

Dental fillings are used to treat and prevent cavities. After cleaning out any infection and sanitizing your mouth, Dr. Wynter will fill your tooth with a strong composite resin.  This filling will strengthen your tooth and help prevent it from becoming infected again.

How Can Sealants and Fluoride Help Me?

Sealants and fluoride are both inexpensive treatments we use to strengthen your teeth and prevent infection. Sealants are thin layers of resin that are painted onto the surface of your teeth. Once hard, sealants make it easier to brush and prevent bacteria from getting into the crevices of your teeth.

Fluoride is a mineral that can strengthen your enamel and prevent decay. It does this by building up over time on the surface of your teeth. If you do not get enough fluoride from your toothpaste or drinking water, we may recommend a fluoride treatment.

What Are Night Guards Used for?

Many people grind and clench their teeth during the night, and over time, this can damage your teeth and put a strain on your jaw joints and facial muscles. At New Roc Dental, we can create a custom night guard to wear while you sleep. Unlike over-the-counter options, professional night guards are small, comfortable, and fit perfectly over your teeth. They can even adjust your jaw’s position to help you breathe better at night!
